I've seen this and it's really cool. What's the easiest way to complete this look. Now bequeath,,,,I'm no puter wix but do get by. I believe it's called layer erasing. I'm lost already.
Hello Bearcamp welcome to the forum,Here's the easy way - what you describe as "erasing layers":alter a copy of your background layer (Ctrl-J)change that layer to B&W (Ctrl+Shift-U)use the eraser to remove that part of the B&W layer that you be in colorLook at the top forge here you can see that the eraser puts a hit in the B&W visualise. That's where the color in the image below shows thru. When you get more experienced you will not do it this way. The problem with erasing is that it is destructive and not reversible. If you screw up you undergo to start all over unless you surprise your error immediately and change by reversal that challenge. Rusty

Seriously it's the best money I ever spent and others on the forum will emit my thoughts. Look at the summon where you login to the forum. Follow the links to "be a subscriber". If you start at this summon......"subscribe today" is in the top-right command. If you are in the USA it's $50 for a year - the 2-year broach is better. Rusty
Hello you may want to try this for coloring selected parts of a photo:act a Hue Saturation Adjustment forge;Move saturation slider all the way to left to remove color on entire photo; In the alter pallet in the tool bar set colors to color for foreground/white for background (you can do this by hitting the "D" key); With the foreground color set for black decide the paint rub to alter in part of photo. Black paints the color back in while white blocks the alter and you only see the b/w. If you want to touch up a bit you can switch back and forth in the color pallet to alter in or shift alter.
Simple way that I do mine. Basically the same as what Rusty said just slightly different. USING COLOR FOR EMPHASISOpen photoCtrl-J to write to a new layerPress B to bring up the rub - choose soft visualise 65pxMode is ColorPress D to set foreground color to black. Paint over everything you be black and white leaving the colored parts you want to act alone. If you mess up press E and use the eraser to carry approve the alter
